Lexi + Scott: A Positive Postponement Story

In the midst of all the uncertainty regarding weddings this year due to the coronavirus situation, upcoming bride Lexi shares her postponement experience and how she handled this unexpected change in plans with her wonderful team of wedding vendors.

“From the moment Scott and I got engaged, the planning and preparation for the best day of our lives began. Okay, so maybe we took a few days to celebrate, but let’s be honest: all of those wedding websites, magazines, Pinterest boards, and childhood daydreams now became a reality. Inevitably, there was some stress and pressure that set in, but for us, that was the price of admission for creating our dream wedding.

Truly, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing the planning come to life – the mold begins to harden once the venue and date are finalized and vendors locked in place. Engagement celebrations come and go, 'save the dates’ announced, menus tasted, and then, as the next to final step, invitations are put in the mail. Insert COVID-19, and everything comes to a standstill.”

“With gatherings being prohibited, we were faced with a tough decision to roll the dice and hope the current situation was resolved before our June wedding date, or air on the side of caution and reschedule our wedding. And boy, if we weren't already thrilled with our vendors pre-COVID-19, we were completely in love with them once we decided to postpone. Each and every vendor was prompt, diligent and supportive during a time of quick-fired emails, time-sensitive questions, and elevated anxiety. Even knowing they must have had multiple couples in our same shoes, we felt like their number one priority rather than just another client.

As important as any vendor, we cannot say enough about our wedding venue, Saltwater Farm Vineyard. Since the beginning of our planning process, we were welcomed with open arms and have been treated like family. When we made the tough decision to begin exploring our options to postpone, they were our first contact, as procuring a new date was paramount. From there, they provided Scott and me with such support, without any pressure, to make our decision, together, as a couple. Even before we selected our new date, both Merrily and Jess made the transition feel so normal and easy - in a time that is anything but - and helped us settle into our new date with excitement.”

“If there's anything we've learned about planning a wedding during such turbulent times, it's:
1. Don't cancel, postpone - support small businesses!
2. True love waits
3. And most importantly, stay safe & stay home!

To all our fellow 2020 couples, we hope our positive 'postponement experience' helps to ease some of your own concerns, and remember, we're all in this together! Cheers!”
